SPRAVATO® is the only FDA-approved nasal spray for TRD.

Have you seen the new SPRAVATO® commercial? It's about time! We hope the commercial helps get the word out about this life-changing treatment.

SPRAVATO® is an NMDA receptor antagonist that is believed to work differently by acting on a pathway in the brain that affects glutamate. Glutamate is the most abundant neurotransmitter (chemical messenger) in the brain. Spravato has been FDA approved for TRD since 2019 and we've been a Spravato treatment center since 2022.

Here are some answers to common questions we get about SPRAVATO®.

  1. Does my insurance cover treatments? YES!
  2. Do I qualify for SPRAVATO®? You do if you meet the following criteria:
    1. You have been diagnosed with major depressive disorder.
    2. You have tried and failed two different antidepressants.
    3. You are currently taking an antidepressant.
    4. You are medically cleared for treatment.
    5. You do not have a substance use disorder.
  3. What is the treatment scheudle like? Spravato treatments are 2x per week sessions (2 hours) in the office for one month, then you decrease to 1x per week sessions (2 hours) in the office for one month. After that, we listen to how you are feeling and design a treatment protocol based on your individual needs.
  4. Can I come off my antidepressant if I do Spravato? Some people do! Some people don't. And that's okay. What matters is that you are feeling better and functioning well, and your depression is not holding you back.
